Job Description
Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking an experienced Dialysis Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have the necessary certifications and a strong background in acute hemodialysis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care for patients with end-stage renal disease, chronic kidney disease, and acute kidney injury.
• Administer hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatments, ensuring the safety and comfort of patients.
• Monitor patient conditions and assess treatment responses throughout the dialysis process.
• Assist with special procedures and support tasks in other areas as needed based on patient census.
• Participate in on-call duties and weekend rotations as required by the department.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
• Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) or Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in dialysis or related acute care settings.
• First-time travelers are welcome.

Job Details:

• Shift: 3x12 hour shifts from 06:45 - 19:15 (36 hours weekly).
• Float to other departments may be required based on patient needs.
• Every other weekend and on-call shifts are mandatory.
• Patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:1 to 1:2.

Skills Required:

• Experience with acute hemodialysis, particularly using Fresenius equipment.
• Familiarity with peritoneal dialysis, specifically Baxter equipment.
• Sound knowledge of patient assessments and critical care protocols.

Unit Information:

The dialysis unit features 9 stations, including an isolation station, with a focus on acute hemodialysis. The unit operates in a collaborative environment, providing 1:1 patient care for those on ventilators or requiring titratable IV drips.


Orientation:

• 24 hours of orientation, including 12 hours in ICU/offsite and 12 hours in the dialysis room.

Additional Notes:

• Contract staff may be part of a Storm Team or Hurricane Team.
• Preparedness to work during catastrophic events or disasters is expected.
• Scrubs will be provided.
