Job Location: Santa Fe, NM 87505
Duration: 3+ months of Contract

Department: Surgical Services/Patient Care Division
Shift: 5x8 06:30 - 15:00
Start: ASAP

Required:

BLS from AHA.
Surgical Tech certification.

Weekend Requirement:

1-2 24 hour weekend call shifts per schedule.

On Call Requirement:

1-2 call nights per week.

Floating Requirement / Locations:

Float to other departments as needed.

Position Summary:

An integral member of the surgical team who provides support for surgeons throughout the operation by preparing, providing and caring for instruments and equipment and maintaining a sterile field.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred.
Certification/Licenses:
- BLS certification required.
- Surgical Tech certification required.
Skills:
- Knowledge of care and handling of instruments and equipment.
- Knowledge of sterilization and cleansing procedures.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.
Experience:
- One or more years experience in an acute care hospital setting in the operating room or an instrument care environment preferred.

Nature of Supervision:

Responsible to: Clinical Manager Operating Room and Director, Surgical Services.

Environment:

Bloodborne pathogens - C
- Employee will be instructed in Universal Precautions and Right to Know.
- Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is a potential for exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals.
- Cleaning, repair and replacement of this protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital.
- Utilizes available tools to prevent worker injuries.

Physical Requirements:

Heavy physical effort requiring standing, walking or lifting most of the day.
Requires ability to speak, hear and communicate verbal and written materials.
