Holly, North Carolina Job Details Job ID: 5655707 Application Deadline: Posted until filled Posted: Apr 20, 2026 4:00 AM (UTC) Starting Date: To Be Determined Position Type: Part‑Time Job Description Under general supervision, assist the board in the fair and just discharge of its obligation to students and staff through performance of the Head Coach role. Reports to the school principal and athletic director. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Thorough knowledge of all Athletic Policies approved by the school and responsible for their implementation by staff. Knowledge of school, state, and conference regulations and consistent interpretation for staff. Understand proper administrative line of command and refer all grievances through proper channels. Establish fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught by staff; design conferences, clinics, and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of the overall program. Delegate duties, supervise implementation, and at season’s end analyze staff effectiveness and evaluate assistants. Assist the Athletic Director in scheduling, transportation, and requirements for tournament and special sport events. Assist in the necessary preparation to hold scheduled sport events or practices and adhere to scheduled facility times. Be present at all practices and games, providing assistance, guidance, and safeguards for each participant. Collaborate with trainers in implementing programs and policies concerning injuries, medical attention, and emergencies. In High School Athletics, direct student managers, assistants, and statisticians. Assist athletes in their college or advanced educational selection. Participate in budgeting with the Athletic Director, establishing requirements for the next season and recommending guidelines for equipment specifications. Accountable for all equipment and for collection of fees for lost or unreturned items; arrange issuing, storing, reconditioning of equipment and submit annual inventory. Examine locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking general cleanliness and maintenance of sport equipment. Secure all doors, lights, windows, and locks before leaving the building if custodians are not on duty. Instill in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care, and proper use. Promote the sport within the school through recruiting athletes not in another sports program. Promote the sport outside the school through news media, community programs, or other feasible methods. Maintain good public relations with news media, Booster Club, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans. Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal in keeping with school policy. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must possess administrative and organizational skills in addition to a thorough knowledge of school athletic policy and procedure. Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community. Minimum Training and Experience Must meet requirements established by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, and school administration. Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport is required.
