Emergency Department Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Nurse to join our team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The selected candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to a diverse patient population across all age groups, including neonates, infants, pediatric patients, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Responsibilities

• Float within service line/scope of practice as needed
• Manage and interpret dysrhythmias, including blood product administration and central line care/management
• Perform phlebotomy, start IVs, and administer continuous IV sedation and vasopressors
• Conduct procedural sedation administration and care for patients with CVA, neuro-trauma, and traumatic brain injuries
• Provide care for orthopedic trauma, head injuries, and respiratory issues, including CPAP/BiPAP
• Interpret ABGs and manage ventilated patients
• Administer care to patients presenting with various chief complaints in the emergency room, including chest pain, shortness of breath, mental health evaluations, OB/GYN emergencies, sepsis, stroke, abdominal pain, and trauma
• Participate in triage and isolation precautions as necessary
• Work collaboratively with a team of 24/7 board-certified providers and nursing staff

Qualifications

• Active Michigan nursing license required
• Minimum of 3 years of Emergency Department experience, including combined adult and pediatric care
• Experience with a patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Certifications required: ACLS, BCLS, NIH, PALS, TNCC
• Familiarity with medication systems (Pyxis) and electronic health records (Epic) is required
• Experience with first-time travel is accepted; local travelers residing within 50 miles are not eligible

Shift Requirements

Every other weekend commitment is required for this position.

Unit Details

• 27-bed Emergency Department at a rural hospital
• Serves an average daily census of 76 patients
• Designated as a Primary Stroke Center, seeking Trauma IV designation
• Equipped with a dedicated SANE room and forensic nurse on call
• 24/7 coverage by charge nurses, triage nurses, and house supervisors
• Includes 2 designated resuscitation rooms and 4 preferred psychiatric care rooms
