Smithfield Foods’ Associate Commodities Analyst is responsible for several integral support functions for the Commodity Price Risk Management and Hedging functions. This role will gather, track, analyze, and present data to the Commodities team that will facilitate more effective and efficient operations for the group. Success in this role will be defined as leading the tactical, daily support activities that drives this department to the next level!

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Independent Process and Data Preparation: Works independently on a variety of processes and data preparation related to Commodities and Hedging.

• Data Gathering and Market Analysis: Gather, analyze, and present data while keeping a pulse on market competitive intelligence.

• Presentation Support: Prepare PowerPoint presentations to support the team & management.

• Reporting and Process Accountability: Accountable for various daily, weekly, and monthly reports and processes as assigned.

• Risk Management Strategy Execution: Execute risk management strategies as needed.

• Ad-Hoc Research and Analysis: Conduct ad hoc research and analysis projects to support the Commodities team as well as other business segments.

• Opportunity Identification and Strategic Solutions: Ability to identify new opportunities and, with the support of local leadership, implement strategic solutions.

• Calendar and Activity Management: Proactively oversees and maintains an accurate and detailed calendar of activities, deliverables, and obligations in service of management and implementation within the department.

• Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Communicates concerns, inconsistencies, opportunities, or questions to appropriate stakeholders should they arise.

WHAT WE’RE SEEKING:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Ag Econ, Finance, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

• Company will consider a currently enrolled college student with an anticipated graduation by end of current school year as qualified.

• Basic understanding of production agriculture, commodity price risk, & hedging

• Strong proficiency in MS Office: EXCEL, PowerPoint, Outlook.

• Ability to analyze, and input data accurately and efficiently.

• Positive, tenacious attitude; strong verbal and written communication, and project management skills.

Smithfield Foods provides pay ranges that reflect its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the company reasonably expects to pay for a position at the time of hire. Individual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, location of the position, the candidate’s qualifications and experience, internal equity, external market pay for comparable positions and budget considerations.
