Commercial Loss Control Consultant-Independent Contractor

We are seeking experienced Commercial Lines Loss Control Consultants to conduct property inspections and consultative visits across our coverage area. Independent 1099 contractors work independently and efficiently to meet hard due dates, and are compensated by completed reports. Appointments are scheduled mutually with the insured or property contact, and orders plus reports are managed through a cloud‑based system. Pay is weekly upon full completion and report submission. The ideal candidate possesses at least three years of experience or relevant certifications such as CSP or ARM, strong communication and technology skills, the ability to assess the physical condition of a property quickly, and reliable transportation. Contractors must supply their own equipment (computer, digital camera, scanner, cell phone, etc.) and be available for calls as needed. During visits, the consultant will interview relevant personnel, survey/inspect premises, identify hazards and controls, take digital photographs, measure and calculate square footage, and produce detailed reports that include recommendations to improve risk. All contractors must submit a current resume and, if selected, undergo a background check that includes a criminal records check and may include a drug screen. Bi‑lingual ability is a plus. Job Qualifications Experience completing property and casualty lines insurance loss‑control surveys and reports. Thorough understanding of general liability and property insurance coverage. General understanding of commercial auto, workers’ compensation, and inland marine lines of coverage preferred. Ability to work quickly and efficiently to meet hard due dates with minimal supervision. Ability to adequately assess the physical condition of a property. Preparation of clear and concise reports. Basic computer operating, typing, and internet skills; Windows operating system required. Ownership of a digital camera, high‑speed internet access, and a measure wheel or similar device. Self‑starter, detail oriented, well organized, with a flexible schedule. Reliable vehicle capable of covering a wide territory. Professional demeanor and commitment to company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes. Responsibilities Set site inspection appointments with insured or agent via email and/or phone calls. Complete physical inspections of properties within assigned territory as required by the carrier. Take digital photographs of properties. Identify and document any hazards and controls found at the property. Conduct on‑site management interviews regarding the property, as required. Upload report and photos through a cloud‑based system. Complete online training courses as required. Follow all company policies, procedures, safety and security procedures, and business ethics codes.
