Senior Lead AV Technician

Our client is seeking a Senior AV Technician / Lead Installer to support commercial audio/video projects across the Greater Hampton Roads and Richmond areas.
This is a hands-on, field-based role where you’ll lead installations ranging from single-room setups to fully integrated building systems. You’ll own project outcomes while also mentoring junior technicians.

 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead and complete commercial AV installations from start to finish
  

• Install and troubleshoot AV systems (displays, audio, control systems, cabling)
  

• Oversee job sites to ensure quality, safety, and timelines
  

• Build racks, manage structured cabling, and perform rough-ins
  

• Communicate with project teams, engineers, and clients
  

• Train and support junior technicians
  

• Travel locally to job sites as needed
  

• 5+ years of commercial AV installation/troubleshooting experience
  

• 3+ years leading installations or crews
  

• Experience with AV systems such as:
  

• Flat panels, projectors
  

• 25/70V audio systems
  

• Control systems (Crestron, Extron, etc.)
  

• Video distribution, DSP, and IP-based AV
  

• Familiarity with structured cabling and construction environments
  

• Basic networking knowledge
  

• AVIXA CTS or similar certifications preferred
  

• Own basic tools and reliable transportation
  

• Valid driver’s license
  

• Able to pass background check (DCJS eligible)
  

• Comfortable working on ladders and using power tools
  

• Strong communication and client-facing skills
  

• Self-motivated with a sense of ownership
  

• Comfortable working in fast-paced field environments
  

• Team-oriented with a willingness to train others
