Job Summary:

The Store Setup Associate role at Ocean State Job Lot ("OSJL" and "Company") is a temporary position that is responsible for supporting a range of essential store operations prior to and immediately subsequent to new store openings. Duties include fixture assembly, receiving and stocking freight, product merchandising and customer support through the store grand opening including operating a register. This role is expected to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment in stores during pre-opening setup and store grand opening. This temporary position supports new store openings and is expected to last approximately [6] weeks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely set up and move fixtures, adjust and label shelves.
• Maintain accurate displays, stock assigned areas, and ensure OSJL merchandising standards are met.
• Pre-store soft opening: Unload multiple deliveries a day and work product onto the sales floor in accordance with the New Store Playbook.

• Post-store soft opening: Unload deliveries according to Company processes, organize merchandise, and prepare it for the sales floor.
• Operate a cash register efficiently during and after the store soft opening,
• Post-store soft opening: Provide exceptional service and build friendly rapport through exemplifying the T.R.E.A.T. model and fostering a welcoming environment.
• Understand, support, and implement safety protocols throughout the store.

• Maintain a neat, organized, and safe environment for customers and associates through regular cleaning and janitorial tasks.
• Promote Company-wide customer initiatives like donations, loyalty programs, and special offers.
• Collaborate effectively and independently to achieve goals, proactively communicating opportunities for improvement to store leadership.

Qualifications:

• Prior merchandise receiving, handling, and stocking experience in other retail or warehouse environments is preferred.
• Basic math and reading skills are required.
• Legible handwriting as well as good verbal and written communication skills are required.

Work Environment:

• Work primarily in a retail store environment during pre-opening setup and grand opening periods. Conditions vary by store location and may include fluctuating temperatures, dust, and limited accessibility in stockroom and receiving areas. This position requires extended periods of moving, remaining stationary, ascending, descending, and positioning oneself to complete various tasks throughout the shift.

• The conditions for performing all job functions will change according to the constraints of an individual store location. These will include a sales area, a stockroom/receiving area and a separate operations/office area, all of which may have varying conditions such as temperature, dust levels, and overall accessibility.
• Responsible for physical activities including using hand tools, ascending or descending a ladder, moving, reaching, and lifting on a frequent basis: Must be able to lift 35 lbs on a regular basis.
