Purchasing Agent

Purchasing AgentBased in our Spindale, NC home office, the Purchasing Agent manages purchase orders, subcontract agreements, and vendor relationships to ensure timely, cost-effective acquisition of materials, tools, and equipment for our commercial and industrial projects. The ideal candidate has construction purchasing experience and proficiency with Kojo and Sage. This role offers strong growth potential, with an entry-level path for candidates building a long-term career in procurement.Key ResponsibilitiesPurchase Order & Procurement ManagementIssue and process 5–20 POs daily (Kojo, rental, online orders, call-ins) and handle miscellaneous purchases for the warehouse and mechanicsSource, negotiate, and purchase materials, equipment, and tools from approved vendors, including specialty or out-of-stock itemsVerify vendor pricing and cost codes in Kojo and Sage; track credit card receiptsFollow up on order status, price-check high-cost items, and resolve order or delivery issuesSubcontract AdministrationPrepare, issue, and track subcontracts and change orders; verify COIs and W-9s before executionMaintain contract records in Procore and the subcontract tracking spreadsheet, following up on outstanding documentsCoordinate with project managers and accounting on contract execution and payment processingCost Tracking, Reporting & Vendor CoordinationMaintain the pricing spreadsheet and vendor quotes; verify pricing accuracy and resolve discrepanciesCollaborate with Accounting on cost coding and budget tracking in SageEnter orders into the Teams Code Red Report and send weekly updates; generate reports on purchasing trends and vendor performanceCoordinate with field teams and project managers on delivery schedules, material substitutions, shortages, and delaysMinimum RequirementsExperience: 2+ years in purchasing or procurement; construction industry preferred but not requiredSoftware: Kojo, Sage, Procore, Teams, and ExcelSkills: Strong attention to detail, negotiation, and follow-up; able to troubleshoot order issues and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentPreferred QualificationsFamiliarity with electrical construction materialsExperience in electrical contracting or construction procurement/subcontract managementExperience working with subcontractor compliance requirements (COI, W-9s, etc.)Background in accounts payable or finance-related tasks is a plusWe deliver some of the highest-value and most complex electrical projects in the region.
