University Investigator (ETHICS AND CMPLNC PROFL 4)

Job Summary Under the general direction of the Director of Investigations, University investigators independently investigate allegations that faculty, other academic appointees, staff members, and students have violated University policy. Investigators conduct interviews, collect and review material evidence, and prepare high‑quality written reports that summarize evidence, provide factual findings, and interpret relevant policies. Key Responsibilities 90% – Investigative work; 10% – Other duties. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalent experience. 1–3 years of experience conducting administrative investigations into complex matters such as allegations of sexual harassment or police misconduct. Demonstrated experience preparing thorough, neutral, and well‑written reports that make factual findings and discuss relevant laws or policies. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices and methodologies for conducting investigations, including interviewing witnesses and analyzing evidence. Demonstrated oral communication abilities, including skill and experience interacting with diverse constituents. Preferred Qualifications Juris Doctor degree. Experience independently investigating complex and sensitive allegations in a University setting. Two years of experience investigating allegations of sexual harassment. Experience applying the Public Safety Officers Procedural Bill of Rights (POBR) in an investigation setting. Department Overview At UC Davis, compliance is a shared responsibility.
