We are actively seeking a Board-Certified Physician Assistant (PA) specializing in Cardiovascular Surgery for an exciting locum tenens opportunity near Petersburg, VA. This position is ideal for a highly skilled PA with experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, providing essential coverage due to a staffing change from full-time to PRN. This opportunity requires a PA who is comfortable supporting a surgeon in a hospital-based environment and working within a collaborative team.

• Position Type: Locum Tenens, covering both inpatient and outpatient services.
• Start Date: ASAP - Ongoing.
• Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with weekend and on-call responsibilities.
  • Call Requirements: \"First call\" and on-call for surgery, with a 1:5 call ratio.
  • Weekend Requirements: Yes.
• Work Setting: Hospital-based, providing outpatient and inpatient coverage with 24-hour surgeon support.
• Average Caseload:
  • Inpatient: 1-2 cases per day with PRN rounding.
  • Outpatient: 3-6 patients per clinic day.

• Perform critical Cardiovascular Surgery procedures including CVICU , EVH , CABG , ECMO , and VALVE surgeries.
• Provide care to adult and geriatric patients in a hospital-based setting.
• Assist in managing complex cardiovascular cases with the support of a 24-hour surgeon team.

• Board Certification (NCCPA): Required.
• Active Virginia License: Required.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS (Required).
• Local Candidates: Highly preferred for quick onboarding and availability.
• Experience with EPIC EMR is essential, as documentation will be completed using this system.

• Daily Rate: Competitive daily rate offered for 40 hours per week.
• On-Call Pay: Additional compensation for on-call shifts.
• Flexible Schedule: Enjoy a work schedule that accommodates both weekdays and weekends.

• Estimated Credentialing Timeframe: 120 days. Emergency/Temp Privileges: Not available.
