Pyyne Financial Controller

Pyyne is a modern technology consultancy engineering the next generation of digital products and services. We build and deploy AI systems for private equity firms, financial services companies, and consumer brands — and we place senior engineering talent directly into client teams. We're roughly 100 people, headquartered in New York with offices in Stockholm, São Paulo, and Portugal. We're growing fast and we're profitable.

Pyyne is seeking a Financial Controller with experience to work out of our NYC office. This is a high-impact role for Pyyne as we grow our global operations and need thorough financial reporting to plan our business.

A successful candidate in this role will report directly to the COO and will be primarily focused on executing on Financial strategy, modeling, and board-level reporting. This is a role with a high degree of ownership and very little bureaucracy. This is a great opportunity for a strong Assistant Controller, a Senior Accountant ready to own a function, or a Controller at a smaller company.

Accounting and close

• Full-cycle accounting and bookkeeping for our US entity
• Monthly and quarterly close, on a predictable calendar
• Consolidate reporting from our international entities' local accounting providers
• Prepare the close package and supporting schedules for our outside CPA on tax and annual accounts

Billing and collections

• Client invoicing, including multi-workstream and milestone-based arrangements
• Accounts receivable and collections
• Accounts payable, including contractor and vendor payments
• Bank and credit card reconciliation

Payroll and benefits administration

• Run US payroll and coordinate with local providers internationally
• Benefits administration and enrollment
• Contractor onboarding and payment administration

Compliance calendar

• Track and file federal, state, and local registration, filing, and reporting obligations Insurance renewals: keep coverages current and flag when limits look wrong
• Pull documentation and evidence for audits and compliance reviews, including SOC 2

Reporting

• Produce the monthly and quarterly reporting package on a fixed schedule
• Maintain the operating metrics dashboard: utilization, DSO, bench cost, revenue per head, engagement margin
• Maintain the cash flow forecast model and keep the inputs current (the COO owns the model and the assumptions; you own the accuracy of what goes into it)
• Ad hoc reporting and analysis for leadership

Expense management

• Corporate card program, expense policy enforcement, and expense tracking
• Vendor and software spend review

Required

• 5+ years in accounting, including time owning or substantially running a monthly close
• Solid working knowledge of US GAAP
• Strong QuickBooks (or comparable) and genuine spreadsheet skill
• Experience with billing and collections in a services business
• Payroll experience
• Comfort operating without a large structured team
• You catch things. Reconciliations that don't tie, invoices that never went out, a vendor charging us twice.

Strongly preferred

• Professional services background — consulting, IT services, staffing, or agency
• Track record of pulling DSO down
• Benefits administration ownership
• Multi-entity exposure

Nice to have

• CPA or CPA candidate
• Experience with revenue recognition for time-and-materials and fixed-fee work
• You've implemented or migrated a financial system and lived through it

• $145,000 – $165,000 base, plus performance bonus. Benefits and PTO.
