Job Title: CT Technologist

License: Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R)

Must-Have:
- Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner


Description:
Operates computed tomography (CT) equipment to process cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes.
Performs diagnostic CT examinations according to departmental policies and protocols.
Screens, prepares, and positions patients for CT procedures with reference to diagnoses and body parts.
Knowledgeable of all CT equipment including the laser camera.
Evaluates CT studies for quality and completeness.
Utilizes advanced image manipulations such as 3D rendering, reformation, and reconstruction.
Understands image display and filming options.
Recognizes and rectifies CT imaging and filming problems.
Sends images to the PACS system and evaluates exams for completeness.
Verifies exams in a timely manner.
Develops a working knowledge of all PACS capabilities.
Maintains accurate documentation on logbook worksheet and charging of examination and supplies.
Appropriately administers contrast media as directed by the Radiologist.
Maintains radiation safety for patients, staff, and family members of patients.
Is responsive to patient physical and psychological needs.
Keeps patients informed and explains all procedures in a clear and concise manner.
Listens to and answers patient questions with patience and courtesy.
Seeks advice from appropriate resources when unsure of protocol or policy.
Maintains a clean and appropriately supplied work area.
Makes independent judgments in planning the sequence of operations and decisions in a complex technical field.
Works directly with patients and/or customers.
Engages with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
Interacts with external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction.
Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff.
