OhioGuidestone is looking to welcome a self-motivated individual with a real passion for working with children during their most formative years. Our Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant position works with children, birth to six years, and their caregivers who would benefit from behavioral health or consultation services at home or in the community. In addition to working with caregivers, this position provides support to teachers and other professionals to promote healthy social and emotional development. Essential Functions:
• Demonstrate the values and guiding principles of OhioGuidestone every day, performing with the
highest standards of excellence, integrity and ethics.
• Establish and maintain meaningful, effective, professional relationships with childcare
programs, staff, parents, and children (age 6 & under);
• Exemplify self-discipline and self-awareness;
• Conduct assessment services and behavior intervention plans at teacher/program request;
• Assist early childcare staff with environmental design, and development of curricular and
behavioral cues;
• Provide supportive interventions with young children;
• Promote a climate which fosters resiliency and positive social, emotional and behavioral
development;
• Provide consultation services for early childhood programs, and provide coordination and
referral to community services as needed;
• Facilitate parent training groups and teacher continuing education programs;
• Provide parent consultations and strengthen parent involvement;
• Participate productively in a multi-disciplinary team;
• Communicate effectively utilizing listening skills; conversing both verbally and in writing;
• Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, E-mail & internet;
• Operating business machines including copier, computer and fax;
• Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills.
• Relating to other persons and tolerating personal differences in values and opinions which
include sensitivity to the county’s service population’s cultural and socioeconomic
characteristics;
• Interacting appropriately in a host setting and working cooperatively with staff members;
• Abiding by the APA, ACA, or NASW Code of Ethics;
• Demonstrating respect and dignity of other staff, clients, and other professionals;
• Acting as an advocate for young children, their families, and early childcare providers;
• Exhibit positivity, flexibility and a willingness to take on new responsibilities as requested or
required.
• Demonstrate positive leadership, promote a team-based work environment and a culture of
belonging.
• Present the Agency in the most positive light with all internal and external contacts. Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work or a related field licensure as PC, PCC, LSW, LISW and/or experience working with children
ages 0-6 and their families.
• Experience working with early childhood programs is preferred. Qualifications:
• Mission driven; strong desire to make an impact
• Effective interpersonal skills; able to speak effectively with individuals and/or groups of people
• Ability to customarily and regularly exercise discretion and good professional judgment
• Flexible; able to work days, evenings, and/or weekends, as desired to meet the needs of clients
• Strong organizational skills; able to handle multiple priorities with strict attention to detail and
perform work independently.
• Ability to maintain relevant, timely documentation as required.
• Effective computer literacy skills, including Windows applications, Microsoft Office Suite, and
electronic health records, etc.
• Must be able to access work locations, offices, and homes as necessary, which may include
ascending/descending stairs.
• Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record and valid insurance.
• Successfully complete pre-employment screenings, including drug tests, background checks, and
any other required assessments, such as a physical examination and TB test What We Offer:
