About the Role:

The Laundry Mechanic plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of laundry equipment within the accommodation and food services industry. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of commercial laundry machines to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency. The Laundry Mechanic will work closely with the operations team to schedule preventive maintenance and respond promptly to equipment malfunctions. By maintaining the reliability and safety of laundry machinery, this role directly supports the overall guest experience and operational productivity. The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of equipment performance.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience as a mechanic or technician with a focus on commercial laundry equipment or similar industrial machinery.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between facilities as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Technical certification or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or a related field.
• Experience working within the accommodation or food services industry.
• Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Knowledge of safety standards and compliance related to laundry and industrial equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on commercial laundry equipment including washers, dryers, conveyors, and pressing machines.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and execute timely repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
• Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Collaborate with the laundry operations team to schedule maintenance activities that align with production demands and minimize disruption.
• Ensure all equipment complies with safety regulations and company policies, reporting any hazards or safety concerns immediately.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Laundry Mechanic to effectively diagnose and repair complex machinery issues, ensuring continuous operation of laundry equipment. Mechanical aptitude and electrical knowledge are applied daily to troubleshoot malfunctions and perform preventive maintenance. Reading technical manuals and schematics allows the mechanic to understand equipment specifications and execute precise repairs. Preferred skills such as familiarity with CMMS enhance the ability to track maintenance schedules and document repairs efficiently. Strong communication and collaboration skills facilitate coordination with operations staff to minimize downtime and maintain a safe working environment.
