Environmental Service Technician I

What We Offer The Environmental Services Technician ensures a clean and aseptic area within the hospital for the safety, health, and morale of patients, visitors, and employees by performing various housekeeping and related duties. What You’ll Do Cleanliness of public areas: Polices public areas twice per shift, dusts, damp‑mops, and cleans carpet and walls with proper tools and chemicals, places wet‑floor caution signs, washes walls, removes excess water, and returns equipment to proper storage. Restroom maintenance: Maintains all restrooms in a sanitary condition at all times; cleans according to procedure, polishes mirrors and stainless steel work, replenishes disposable items, wipes fixtures, empties trash, uses disinfectants, removes mineral deposits, and rinses sinks and showers thoroughly. Patient room and ancillary area cleaning: Removes soiled linen and trash, applies universal precautions, disinfects and cleans beds, wipes equipment, makes beds properly, separates and disposes of waste, disinfects furniture, sanitizes restrooms, cleans floors, completes discharge sheets, and informs nursing staff when the room is ready. Surgical suite cleaning (where applicable): Thoroughly cleans and disinfects suites when no ER or tech is scheduled; wears proper attire, removes trash and segregates waste, removes linen, and disinfects all items in the room. Customer & guest relations: Promotes quality guest relations by acknowledging customers promptly, using respectful communication, supporting a positive climate, addressing concerns, showing empathy, and discussing options. What We’re Looking For Education: High School Diploma or GED, preferred. Experience: Previous hospital or commercial housekeeping experience; on‑the‑job training will be provided after employment, preferred. Additional skills required: Must read, write, and effectively communicate with patients and staff in English. Why Choose Novant Health?
