Histology Technician

This position requires performing routine and complex histologic procedures. Key responsibilities include processing and embedding tissue samples and performing microtomy. The technician will conduct routine and special stains as well as immunohistochemistry. Quality control on completed slides must be performed regularly. The technician will identify problems that may affect diagnosis and results. Observations from tests need to be accurately recorded. Documentation of maintenance for lab instruments and equipment is essential. Candidates may be required to participate in occasional weekend on-call coverage. All required rotation duties must be accepted including holiday rotations. A Bachelor's degree in histotechnology, biology, or a related scientific discipline is preferred. Experience in Immunohistochemistry and Special Stains is also preferred. Local candidates may be considered based on specific criteria. It is important to be aware of potential assignments during emergency response situations. Applicants must complete the required initial compliance processes in a timely manner. All candidates must adhere to specified requirements for submitting requests for time off.
