Love dogs and have a passion for leading a team? Dogtopia is looking for a dependable, motivated, and organized Shift Lead to help oversee daily operations, support our team, and deliver exceptional care for our dogs and pet parents.

As a Shift Lead, you’ll lead by example, keep your shift running smoothly, and help ensure our safety, cleanliness, and customer service standards are met. This is a hands-on role that includes supporting playrooms, assisting at the front desk, coaching team members, and responding to the needs of the business throughout the day.

What You’ll Do

Lead & Support the Team

• Guide daily shift activities and communicate priorities clearly.
• Assign tasks and coordinate room coverage, breaks, and transitions.
• Lead shift huddles and share important dog, pet parent, and operational updates.
• Coach team members on procedures and provide constructive feedback.
• Ensure assigned duties and opening, closing, and cleaning checklists are completed.
• Jump in where needed, including supervising playrooms, running dogs, and assisting the front desk.

Maintain Safety & Quality of Care

• Monitor playroom operations and reinforce safe dog handling and supervision practices.
• Ensure team members follow care instructions and established safety procedures.
• Recognize and promptly communicate dog health or behavior concerns.
• Ensure incidents and concerns are documented accurately and reported to management.
• Help the team respond to unexpected situations according to training and company procedures.
• Maintain clean, organized playrooms, boarding areas, and shared spaces.

Support Pet Parents & Front Desk Operations

• Create a welcoming experience for every pet parent.
• Assist with check-ins, pickups, reservations, and payments.
• Answer questions about daycare, boarding, spa services, pricing, and wellness plans.
• Support timely lead follow-up and Meet & Greet scheduling.
• Help maintain accurate records, including vaccination information and care notes.
• Address routine customer concerns professionally and involve management when needed.

Keep the Shift Running Smoothly

• Adjust team assignments as needs change throughout the day.
• Help coordinate daycare, boarding, feeding, and other scheduled care.
• Monitor supplies and communicate shortages or equipment concerns.
• Keep management informed of staffing needs, incidents, and unresolved issues.
• Provide clear handoff notes so the next shift is prepared.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous leadership, shift lead, or team training experience preferred
• A love for dogs and a strong commitment to safety
• The confidence to give clear direction and hold team members accountable respectfully
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• A calm, professional approach in a busy environment
• Dependability, initiative, and consistent follow-through
• Comfort working hands-on with dogs and supporting all areas of the facility
• Availability to support opening, closing, weekend, and holiday shifts as scheduled
