Senior Systems Engineer

Responsibilities Provide senior consultative services and project work for Professional Services clients. Design, implement, and remediate complex technology solutions in two or more of the following subject matter areas: Cloud Technology – project design, implementation, migrations, and high‑level troubleshooting for public, private, and hybrid cloud infrastructure (Azure, AWS, Microsoft365). Modern Workplace/Automation – define and complete project tasks, including scripting, for workplace automation using Intune, SharePoint (including migrations), Viva, PowerApps, Power Automate, and the Microsoft Power Platform. Exchange/Messaging – design, implementation, migration, and high‑level troubleshooting services for MicrosoftExchange and messaging systems. Windows Servers – design, implementation, and high‑level troubleshooting for Windows Server (2019 to 2008R2) and virtualization environments on Hyper‑V and vSphere, including Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop and Azure Virtual Desktop. Active Directory – design, implementation, and high‑level troubleshooting for Active Directory, Azure AD, Intune, AutoPilot, Group Policy, AADS, Federation Services, and domain controllers. Networking – design, implementation, and high‑level troubleshooting for networking infrastructure (routing, switching, firewalls, WAPs, VPNs, load balancers) in medium to large LAN/WAN environments, including cloud environments (Azure, AWS). Act as a pre‑sales consultant to help clients identify solutions, determine project scope, tasks, and budget. Interact with sales team members and clients to understand existing environments and business objectives. Act as project lead for assigned projects, directing team members, working with Project Managers or Sales to resolve risks, and ensuring successful delivery of services. Mentor project engineers and other team members by delivering training and supporting project tasks. Perform additional related responsibilities as assigned. Comply with all company policies, client security policies, and maintain strict confidentiality. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a Microsoft environment (or equivalent combination of education, experience, and skills). Minimum of 5 years of consultative experience at a systems integrator/MSP/other IT vendor, including presales, project scoping, and implementation. High levels of project ownership and individual accountability in a results‑oriented environment. Demonstrated experience as a project lead. Strong commitment to continuous learning, innovation, documentation, and repeatable standards. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, maintain a positive attitude, and provide exemplary customer service. Independent work capability and the ability to carry assignments to completion within prescribed routines and standard practices. Technical Skills Previous Office365 migration experience (hybrid and cloud) with advanced administration and troubleshooting. Proficiency in Windows Server (all versions), workstation implementation, administration, and troubleshooting. Strong skills in Exchange, Hyper‑V, Active Directory, PowerShell/VBS, SharePoint, and Teams. Knowledge of Teams Voice, Skype for Business, Viva, and Office365. Experience with Intune policy management, AutoPilot roll‑outs, and Apple Business Manager. Public cloud and virtualization experience (Azure, Office365, Hyper‑V). Use of migration tools such as ForensIT, Azure Migrate, BitTitan, Cloudiway, MoveriO, Sharegate, SPMT. Functional knowledge of Security and Identity Management, Okta, Public Key Infrastructure, SQL Server, or Linux/Unix/RedHat. Multiple Microsoft certifications and a strong desire to maintain them for continued employment. Shift and Availability Core hours Monday through Friday with a schedule agreed upon based on company needs. Some project work may require delivery outside of standard business hours, including occasional after‑hours and weekend migrations. Employees must be available to accommodate client needs, typically in the Pacific Time Zone; flexibility may be offered for other time zones. Remote / Onsite Requirements Remote work is eligible within states where the company has payroll operations. Employees will work from a home office assigned to a state. Occasional presence at the company headquarters (SanDiego, CA), meetings, conferences, client locations, or other events may be required. Background Check Requirements Background screening and reference check are required as part of pre‑employment. Additional screenings may be conducted as needed by clients or partners, including drug testing per applicable laws and regulations. Continued employment may be contingent on successful completion of these screenings. Physical Requirements Ability to safely perform essential job functions in compliance with ADA, FMLA, and other standards. Must lift up to 10 lbs, talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone. Must frequently sit and stand for long periods, manipulate objects with fine and gross motor skills, communicate in written and spoken English, and retain adequate vision and depth perception. The company participates in the E‑Verify program and will provide required information for work authorization confirmation. Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: $110,000 – $135,000 per year. Additional Perks PTO – earn up to 10 days in year 1; 15 days in year 2; 20 days in years 3+. 401(k) – eligibility after 90 days; company matches 50 % of the first 6 % of employee contributions. Paid holidays – 7 holidays per year. Floating holidays – one per year; plus two after 5 years of service.
