Domestic Tax Matters Specialist

The Domestic Tax Matters Specialist utilizes various systems and specialized expertise to prepare and file multi-jurisdiction tax returns in the U.S. Ensure the compliance of the Firm in Business Licensure across the U.S. Establish the integrity of the underlying financial statements through preparation of month-end journal entries and reconciliations.

Reporting duties may include but are not limited to:

• Prepare and analyze different types of tax returns to include:
  • Sales and Use Tax
  • Income Tax
  • Business License/Net Profit Returns and Renewals
  • Personal Property Tax
• Collaborating with other departments, both internal and external, to ensure sales tax compliance
• Apply for New, and the Renewal of business licenses for all jurisdictions in the U.S. that we are required to hold such licensure.
• Ensuring compliance of the Firm by requesting Tax Clearance Certificates from various federal, state, and local tax agencies.
• Special projects as assigned could involve Sales and Use Tax, Income Tax, Personal Property Tax, and Business Licenses

Transactional and Analysis duties may include but are not limited to:

• Ensures accuracy and compliance with laws and standards by maintaining financial records through the preparation and review of journal entries.

• Reviews general ledger activity and prepares account reconciliations and work papers for various areas including sales and use tax, personal property tax, and income taxes.

• Analyzing differences between accounting systems and reconciling those differences to ensure accurate tax return filing and payment.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (Required)
• Accounting, Finance, or Business major (Preferred)

TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS

• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Ability to communicate verbally and written
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work autonomously and part of a team
• Effective organization and time management skills
• High level of confidentiality

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

• 1-2 years relevant experience
• Previous sales & use tax experience
• Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the ability to use that knowledge to guide in decision making
