Superintendent - Federal Projects (Traveling or Chicago-Based Relocation) Employment Type: Full-Time Location: Nationwide Projects | Option to Relocate to Chicago, IL (HQ-Based Projects) Work Arrangement: Full-Time Traveling Superintendent OR Project-Based Relocation to Chicago, IL Compensation: Per Diem and Vehicle Allowance Provided Position Overview A highly respected, Chicago-based federal general contractor is seeking an experienced Superintendent to support a growing portfolio of mission‑critical federal construction projects across the United States. This organization operates exclusively within the federal sector and is known for delivering high‑quality projects in secure, occupied, and highly regulated environments. This role is structured as either a full‑time traveling Superintendent position supporting projects nationwide OR an opportunity for project‑based relocation to Chicago, IL, supporting work managed directly from the companys headquarters. Current and recent projects include federal office buildings, courthouses, healthcare facilities, military installations, and historic government properties, with active work throughout the Midwest and additional locations nationwide. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all daily on‑site construction activities from mobilization through project closeout Plan, coordinate, and supervise self‑performed work, subcontractors, and trade partners Ensure work is performed in compliance with contract documents, approved submittals, safety requirements, and federal agency standards Maintain and drive the project schedule in coordination with the Project Manager Identify potential schedule impacts and develop recovery plans when needed Coordinate closely with the Quality Control Manager to support compliance with the Three Phase Control Process Participate in preparatory, initial, and follow‑up inspections for Definable Features of Work (DFOW) Enforce jobsite safety programs in compliance with OSHA and EM 385‑1‑1 standards Conduct daily safety meetings, production meetings, and subcontractor coordination meetings Coordinate inspections, testing, and site access with government QA personnel and third‑party agencies Track field progress, manpower, equipment utilization, and production rates Identify constructability issues early and collaborate with the project team on solutions Maintain accurate jobsite documentation including daily reports, schedules, and coordination logs Support punchlist execution, final inspections, commissioning activities, and project closeout Qualifications and Experience Minimum 5 years of experience as a Superintendent on federal construction projects Experience delivering federal projects typically ranging from $10M to $30M Strong working knowledge of USACE, NAVFAC, VA, and GSA construction standards and procedures Demonstrated experience coordinating work under the Three Phase Control System Ability to lead teams in secure, occupied, and regulated environments Proven experience managing subcontractors, schedules, and field execution Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving skills OSHA 30 certification required Experience with EM 385‑1‑1 required or strongly preferred USACE CQM for Contractors certification is a plus, but not required Project Types Federal office buildings and courthouses Military installations and support facilities Federal healthcare and VA facilities Secure and occupied government environments Renovations, system upgrades, and selective ground‑up construction Benefits What Is Offered: Competitive compensation based on experience Travel and relocation support for non‑local candidates Per diem and travel allowances based on project assignment Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401k Long‑term federal project stability Supportive, field‑focused leadership culture #J-18808-Ljbffr CyberCoders
