Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care UnitAmerican TravelerColumbia, South Carolina, United StatesPosition status: OpenAssignment type: travelShift: NightsLength (weeks): 13Openings: 1Start date: 2026-10-26$1,921.86/week (estimated advertised weekly pay)DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring current telemetry experience and NIHSS certification for a night shift assignment.Details41-bed progressive care trauma/telemetry unit caring for adult surgical trauma patients recovering from traumatic injuries requiring surgical intervention.Patient population includes those with gunshot wounds, penetrating injuries, assaults, motor vehicle crashes, and falls.Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4, flexing up to 1:5 as needed.Telemetry monitoring available for up to 14 patients.Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30.36 hours per week.6 weekend shifts required per every 6-week schedule.Interdisciplinary support includes IV Team, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Team, Pharmacy, Transportation, and Unit Secretary.Floating to other units or campuses may be required based on census needs, limited to units where competency has been demonstrated.RequirementsActive RN license (SC or Compact) currently in hand.Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.Minimum 1 year of recent PCU/telemetry experience required.2+ years of specialty experience required for first-time travelers.Minimum 1 year of experience with EPIC EMR required.Skills in telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, central/peripheral line care, blood product administration, and IV therapy.Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care.Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE.Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.Additional InformationProvide progressive care nursing to adult trauma patients recovering from surgical intervention.Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed for patient emergencies.Orientation held every Monday with annual compliance training required.Pre-assignment testing and training modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials.Medication test required as part of unit-specific competency.Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any Prisma Health facility to be eligible, with a mileage exception allowing 50+ miles from the contracted campus for night shift progressive care and telemetry specialties.First-time travelers considered with 2+ years of specialty experience.
