Behavior Intervention Paraprofessional
The Behavior Intervention Paraprofessionals are responsible for collaborating with teachers to assist with instruction to individuals or small groups of students who need behavior support. This position is also responsible for redirecting students and monitoring their progress toward appropriate behaviors, and administering interventions as needed. Primarily, the paraprofessional will support early elementary and preschool students by providing instruction and guidance, using behavior intervention strategies as appropriate.
Qualifications
The candidate shall possess characteristics that reflect:
- A strong clear Christian testimony with a mature and godly spirit
- A daily example of the highest Christian virtue both in and out of school
- Commitment to faithful attendance and support of a church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith for Christian Academy School System
- Agreement and belief that the Bible is the final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind
- Previous professional experience with children, preferred
- Must be 18 years of age
The ideal candidate shall, prior to the start date, provide/successfully complete the following:
- Copy of High School diploma or transcript of highest degree earned
- CPR & First Aid Training
- Criminal Records Check
- Child Abuse and Neglect Check (CAN)
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
The Assistant shall:
- Report to work from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Be responsible for assisting the classroom teachers
- Collaborate with typical classroom teacher to meet student needs
- Care for and treat each child with dignity and respect
- Provide classroom preventative behavioral support
- Assist the teacher, principal, JA director, and educational resource director with carrying out behavioral modification plans
- Implement the OT's recommended daily sensory diet for the student
- Participate in recommended training programs, workshops, courses, and other aspects of professional growth as needed
- Assure each child is loved, that they have value, that God made them special (II Tim. 2:15) and pray for each teacher and student
- Communicate effectively
- Interact and collaborate with staff and students in a professional manner
- Maintain confidentiality
- Perform all other duties as assigned

Ongoing assistance to early ed (primary and preschool) students
Reporting Relationship
The paraprofessional is responsible to the Junior Academy Director, classroom teachers, Counselors and reports to the Principal.
