As an Accountant, your day-to-day responsibilities will include preparing and analyzing financial statements, managing accounts payable and receivable processes, and reconciling bank statements on a monthly basis. You will handle general ledger maintenance, process payroll for our team, and assist in budgeting and forecasting activities to support departmental goals. Weekly tasks involve reviewing invoices, tracking expenses, and generating reports for management review, while collaborating closely with the editorial, marketing, and sales teams to provide financial insights on projects like high-profile events and luxury brand partnerships. Monthly, you will conduct variance analysis against budgets, prepare tax documentation, and ensure compliance with GAAP standards. Additionally, you may lead small audits or process improvements, delivering key metrics such as cost savings and profitability ratios to optimize operations. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with at least 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles, preferably within media, publishing, or luxury sectors. Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, or ERP systems such as NetSuite is essential, along with advanced Excel skills for data analysis and financial modeling. CPA certification or progress toward it is highly preferred, and knowledge of Florida state tax regulations is a plus. Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and audit processes is required to handle our complex revenue streams from subscriptions, advertising, and events. Success in this role demands technical expertise in financial software and analytical tools, paired with soft skills like meticulous attention to detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and strong communication to explain complex data to non-finance stakeholders.
