Job Summary:
The Principal Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining resilient technology solutions on cloud and data platforms. This role involves leading architecture decisions, ensuring operational readiness, and championing software engineering best practices across development teams. The ideal candidate will possess advanced expertise in Google Cloud technologies, data engineering tools, and modern DevOps/Agile practices.



Key Responsibilities:

• Design technology solutions that meet requirements for resiliency, scalability, stability, security, and operational readiness.
• Lead the development, maintenance, and support of enterprise systems and data platforms.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor team members, and promote software engineering excellence.
• Own application and platform health monitoring, alerting, and long-term technology roadmaps.
• Collaborate with Architecture, Infrastructure, and Security teams to evolve system architectures and deliver high-quality solutions.
• Guide staffing decisions, support SME identification, and contribute to performance reviews.
• Drive innovation, continuous improvement, and adoption of Agile and DevOps best practices.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 8+ years of experience in software development, data engineering, or cloud platform implementation.
• Strong experience with:
  • Google Cloud Composer
  • Google BigQuery
  • Google Dataflow & Dataplex
  • Python, SQL, PySpark
  • SnapLogic, DataStage
• Strong understanding of software architecture, CI/CD, automation, and system support methodologies.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and influence technical teams.
• Excellent problem-solving, documentation, verbal, and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Computer Engineering/Software Engineering.
• Experience with:
  • Google Cloud Storage, Looker Studio, Apache Airflow, Apache Beam
  • Kafka / Kafka Connect, Git, GitHub
  • Data Warehousing & ETL tools (Alteryx, DataStage, SnapLogic)
  • Agile environments and Jira
• Experience in healthcare, PBM, or regulated environments (HIPAA, PCI).
• Understanding of security best practices and data governance in cloud systems.
