Machinist III - 18766 Description Set up and operate CNC and manual milling machines, lathes, grinders, and other precision machinin equipment Interpret complex aerospace blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications including GD&T. Machine tight-tolerance parts using aluminum, titanium, stainless steel, and nickel alloys. Plan and perform setups, tooling selection, and machining operations with minimal supervision. Program and edit CNC code (G/M code) and adjust offsets to ensure precision dimensions. Inspect and verify finished parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, bore gauges, height gauges, and CMM (as applicable). Document inspection results per AS9100 and internal quality control procedures. Support the fabrication and repair of tooling, fixtures, and jigs used in aircraft component manufacturing or MRO operations. Ensure compliance with all FAA, EASA, and internal safety and quality requirements. Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and recommend process improvements. Maintain clean, organized work areas and adhere to all 5S and safety policies. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited machinist or aerospace manufacturing technical program preferred. 3–5 years of precision machining experience in aerospace or a similar regulated industry. Hands-on experience with CNC machining centers (HAAS, Mazak, Okuma, or similar). Familiarity with AS9100 and FAA Part 145 repair station quality standards a plus. Skills and Competencies Strong understanding of aerospace materials, tolerances, and surface finishes. Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and process specifications. Skilled in setup, operation, and troubleshooting of both CNC and manual equipment. Working knowledge of GD&T and machining to aerospace tolerances.
