2026 Enterprise Modeling and Simulation Engineer

About the Role The Aerospace Corporation’s Cross-Mission Effectiveness Department (CMED) is seeking a software engineer to support modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) for space, air, and ground systems. The role focuses on advancing software solutions that enable end-to-end effects chain analysis and space‑enabled campaign modeling. Responsibilities Advance software solutions for modeling and simulation applications. Leverage a modern tech stack and enforce best practices for maintainability. Convert programmatic requirements into actionable work. Collaborate closely with cross‑mission program offices and clients to translate needs into modeling, simulation, and analysis tasks. Develop and present briefings and reports for program offices and customers. Travel occasionally as required. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree (or graduate enrollment within 12 months) in computer science, electrical engineering, optical engineering, physics, mathematics, or related field. 0‑1 year experience working with a large C++ code base. Proficiency in C++ (preferably C++20) and Python. Projects or coursework in modeling and simulation. Coursework or projects in at least one of the following: optics, beam control, filtering, multi‑in tracking, tasking, mission management, data transport, command & control processes, SIGINT system modeling, kill chain analysis, or orbit determination. Ability to work independently and cooperatively, manage multiple tasks, and maintain a strong work ethic. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Bias for action with the ability to identify shortcomings and address them. Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance. U.S. citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications (Stand Out) PhD in a related field. Proficiency with the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration, and Modeling (AFSIM). Demonstrated strength in sensor‑ and architecture‑level simulations and mission performance assessments. Knowledge of Intelligence Community, U.S. Department of Defense, and Department of the Air Force business practices. Current Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph and special programs access.
