Lead the Divers Direct Team

Love retail, developing great teams, and creating an exceptional customer experience? Divers Direct is looking for an experienced, driven, and people-focused Store Manager to lead our Fort Lauderdale location.

As the Store Manager, you'll have overall responsibility for the performance and day-to-day operation of the store. You'll lead the team, drive sales and profitability, develop employees, oversee merchandising and inventory, and ensure our customers consistently receive the level of service we expect at Divers Direct.

We're looking for someone who is comfortable being both a leader and an active part of the store team. Our managers lead from the floor, stay connected to their teams, and step in wherever they're needed. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can balance people leadership, customer experience, operational execution, and business performance. Previous scuba or dive industry experience is a plus, but it is not required. Strong retail leadership experience, business judgment, and the ability to build and develop a successful team are what we're looking for most.

What You'll Do

As Store Manager, you'll take ownership of the overall success of your location while creating an environment where employees can perform, develop, and provide an outstanding experience to our customers.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead the day-to-day operation and overall performance of the store
• Drive store sales, productivity, profitability, and other key performance goals
• Lead by example on the sales floor and maintain a strong presence with both customers and employees
• Ensure a consistently positive customer experience and resolve complex customer concerns
• Recruit, hire, onboard, train, develop, and retain a strong store team
• Create and manage employee schedules based on business and staffing needs
• Manage payroll and labor expenses while maintaining appropriate store coverage
• Establish clear expectations for employees and provide regular coaching, feedback, and development
• Address employee performance concerns consistently and in accordance with company policies
• Coordinate and maintain operational, sales, and product training for the store team
• Maintain strong knowledge of store products, brands, services, and promotions
• Oversee merchandising and ensure the store remains organized, visually appealing, and ready for customers
• Manage promotional activities, sales initiatives, and special events
• Oversee inventory processes and maintain effective inventory and shrink controls
• Supervise receiving, transfers, replenishment, and other inventory-related processes
• Learn and oversee tank filling, tank inspection, and compressor processes following company-sponsored training
• Maintain the safety, security, cleanliness, and overall condition of the store
• Monitor store performance, sales trends, expenses, and profitability and communicate results to company leadership
• Partner with other Divers Direct Store Managers and company leadership to share best practices and support company initiatives
• Travel to other store locations occasionally as needed for new store openings, remerchandising, training, or other company initiatives
• Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable federal, state, and industry requirements
• Step in and support different areas of the store as needed
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned by company leadership

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Has at least 5 years of retail sales or related experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management role
• Has demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing employees
• Understands retail sales metrics, KPIs, labor management, inventory, and store profitability
• Is comfortable being a hands-on leader and regularly working alongside the store team
• Has strong business judgment and can make effective decisions in a fast-moving retail environment
• Is highly organized and able to balance competing priorities
• Holds themselves and their team accountable while maintaining a positive and professional work environment
• Has strong customer service and problem-solving skills
• Has excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Is comfortable using computers and learning new systems
• Has strong merchandising and visual presentation skills
• Can collaborate effectively with employees, customers, vendors, other store managers, and company leadership
• Is willing and excited to learn about our products and the dive/watersports industry
• Is available to work a flexible schedule based on retail business needs, including weekends and select holidays
• Is available for occasional travel to other Divers Direct locations as business needs require

A high school diploma or GED is required; a college degree is preferred.

Scuba certification, diving experience, or previous experience in the dive/watersports industry is a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements

This is an active retail leadership position. Team members must be able to:

• Remain on their feet throughout the majority of their shift
• Bend, squat, reach, and move merchandise as needed
• Regularly lift and carry 40+ pounds
• Safely climb ladders
• Access all areas of the store, including sales, receiving, and stock areas
• Read, write, count, calculate, sort, and analyze information as required by the position
