Registered Nurse - Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Job Summary

Join a dedicated team as an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse in Atlanta, Georgia. This role involves providing high-acuity care to a diverse patient population within a fast-paced critical care environment. The primary focus will be on managing complex medical and surgical cases, utilizing advanced clinical skills and critical thinking to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

As an integral member of the ICU team, you will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, intervention, and collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals. This is a travel assignment, requiring candidates to reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes for critically ill patients.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for effectiveness and adverse reactions.
• Manage and monitor critical care equipment, such as ventilators, IV pumps, and cardiac monitors.
• Collaborate with physicians, residents, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Maintain accurate and thorough patient documentation.
• Respond to emergency situations and initiate appropriate interventions.

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience as a Registered Nurse in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) setting.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN).
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.

Skills & Competencies

• Proficiency with Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Advanced critical care nursing skills, including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator management, and medication titration.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and patient/family interaction.
• Ability to adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions and prioritize care effectively.

Shift Details

This is a 13-week contract assignment, scheduled for night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM), working 3 shifts per week. The assignment runs from October 12, 2026, to January 9, 2027. Holiday commitment is required: Must work 2 major holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day) and 1 minor holiday (The Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve).
