CVOR Surgical Technologist

The Cardiothoracic Operating Room Technician (CVOR Tech) provides specialized surgical technology support in cardiovascular and thoracic procedures within a Level II Trauma Center. This role involves assisting in a wide range of surgical cases including CABG, valve surgeries, laparoscopic, and general surgeries. The technician is responsible for preparing and managing surgical instruments, supporting the surgical team, and ensuring efficient case flow. Strong adaptability, quick learning, and willingness to assist colleagues are essential. The position requires participation in a 4x10 day shift schedule with mandatory on-call duties. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and manage surgical instruments and equipment for cardiovascular, thoracic, and general surgeries.
• Act as singular scrub tech during cardiothoracic cases, ensuring sterile field maintenance and instrument readiness.
• Support surgical teams during complex procedures including CABG, AVR, AAA, MVR, VATS, mediastinoscopy, RATS, and carotid cutdowns.
• Assist with flexible endoscope reprocessing including bronchoscopes, EGD scopes, and EBUS (preferred).
• Float to general operating rooms as needed, supporting various surgical specialties such as OB/GYN, plastic, ENT, urology, robotic, orthopedic, neuro/crani, and transplant surgeries.
• Participate in call shifts, responding promptly to urgent surgical needs during off-hours.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies including scrub color restrictions and charting protocols (EPIC).
• Support training and assist colleagues in learning surgical technology procedures.

• Minimum of 1 year surgical technology experience; first-time techs accepted.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Valid Washington State license.
• Ability to work 4x10 day shifts (06:30-17:00) and complete at least 10 on-call shifts per month.
• Experience or ability to perform singular scrub role in cardiothoracic surgeries.

• National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) certification.
• Experience with flexible endoscope reprocessing, including bronchoscopes, EGD scopes, and EBUS.
• Familiarity with a broad range of surgical specialties including robotic and transplant surgeries.

• Mandatory minimum of 10 on-call shifts per month, covering hours from 17:00 to 06:30.
• Required to work 1-2 weekends per month.
• Must comply with scrub color policy (no reddish orange permitted).
• Floating between cardiothoracic and general OR units is expected.
• Locals not accepted; pending licenses accepted with proper documentation.

• 4x10 day shift schedule, regular hours from 06:30 to 17:00.
• On-call shifts occur outside regular hours, from 17:00 to 06:30 daily.
• Weekend work required 1-2 times per month.
