Position Summary
The Material Analyst is responsible for the overall materials function and coordinating the efforts of Production Control, Shipping, Receiving and Inventory Control to ensure an orderly and cost‑effective system is developed and maintained, enabling production and sales goals while minimizing freight dollars and inventory days on hand.
Responsibilities
- Ensure on‑time delivery of customer orders and acquisition of materials.
- Optimize freight and inventory levels.
- Implement production scheduling, logistics and inventory control processes to ensure uninterrupted flow of production while maintaining minimum inventories.
- Select, motivate, train and develop a competent department and materials handling staff.
- Anticipate and resolve problems with short‑term and permanent corrective action.
- Assist with warehouse layout and execution.
- Conduct daily walks to verify material is stored in the proper location.
- Assist in managing the most economical inbound/outbound transportation routes, seeking opportunities to combine shipments, milk runs and warehouse consolidation.
Required Education
Bachelor’s Level Degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance or a related field. Equivalent work experience may also be considered for certain positions.
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years minimum experience in production/materials management.
- Less than 1 year of experience within the automotive industry.
- Must be able and willing to travel and work at customer sites, including industrial manufacturing plants that may require climbing, lifting or working in confined spaces.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficient in Excel.
- Experience with ERP and MR systems.
