Principal Java Developer

Job Summary Leidos seeks a Principal Java Developer in our Intel Security Sector's Analysis Solutions Business Area. The role involves Agile development and operations and maintenance for mission‑critical systems within a DevOps framework. Responsibilities Design, develop, test, and maintain high‑performance, scalable backend microservices using Java and the Spring Framework. Participate in software programming initiatives, shape backend architecture, mentor team members, and conduct code reviews. Develop and direct software system validation and testing methods using JUnit and Katalon, and leverage custom tooling for automated deployment. Prototype and deploy solutions within a cloud‑based platform, leveraging platform services. Analyze proof of concept, performance, and end‑to‑end testing, and coordinate infrastructure needs to meet customer mission requirements. Support the Agile software development lifecycle following SAFe practices while coordinating with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, and team members. Document and perform systems software development, including deployment of build artifacts across multiple environments using GitFlow, GitHub, Jenkins, and scripting (Python, Bash). Apply and identify software development best practices and standard operating procedures to create innovative solutions for customers. Basic Qualifications In‑depth experience in Agile practices, service‑oriented environments, and development practices. Extensive experience with Java and the Spring Framework, microservices architecture and design patterns, implementing RESTful APIs, and integrating with relational and NoSQL databases. Experience integrating with and delivering within DevOps toolsets and practices. Direct experience with performance testing tools such as JUnit, scripting languages such as Python, and Bash. Experience developing on commercial cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and leveraging cloud data services (S3, RDS, EFS). Proficiency with version control systems and issue/problem tracking systems. Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of prior relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience; additional years may substitute for a degree. Must hold an active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph. Preferred Qualifications Experience writing software that interfaces with data technologies such as Elasticsearch, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Kafka, AWS SQS/SNS, AWS Lambda, and AWS S3. Clearance Requirement Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance is required. Pay Range $131,300.00 – $237,350.00 (general guideline; final compensation will consider experience, skills, and internal equity).
