About The Department of Medical Education
The Department of Medical Education is committed to excellence in academics and is a dynamic learning community that promotes educational scholarship and enhancing the curriculum through recognition and support of outstanding educators. The department hosts most of the leadership implementing the Leading EDGE curriculum for Dell Medical School.
About the Assessment and Evaluation Faculty Position
The Assessment and Evaluation faculty member contributes to the school's methodology and strategy for assisting in designing, implementing, and sustaining robust assessment systems and continuous quality improvement processes across the medical education program. This role will also contribute to student assessment support and medical education scholarship.
Core responsibilities include:
Program Evaluation and Continuous Quality Improvement:
Assist with the collection, analysis, and reporting of quantitative and qualitative program evaluation data. Assist with maintaining archived evaluation data.
Collaborate with IT team to develop and implement evaluation dashboards to support program evaluation and decision making.
Maintain and advance accreditation standards set by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Education (ACGME).
Ensure that programmatic evaluation, student and learning assessment, and outcomes data are collected, analyzed, interpreted, and acted upon in a rigorous, systematic, and evidence-based manner.
Work collaboratively with faculty, academic leadership, and institutional research offices to foster a culture of data-informed decision-making and continuous educational excellence.
Student Assessment:
Assist in the analysis and reporting of student performance on standardized and local assessments to guide quality improvement processes.
Review formative and summative assessment methods.
Collaborate with faculty on the initiation of novel student assessment methods aligned with learning objectives.
Collaborate with IT team to develop and implement learner dashboards to support monitoring of learning outcomes and individual student reflection on learning over time.
Medical Education Scholarship:
Assist with medical education research projects and produce scholarly presentations and publications.
Assist with the consultation and collaboration process for supporting faculty, staff and students in engaging in educational scholarship (e.g., resources in research design, sampling, IRB procedures, data collection, analysis, and dissemination).
Support collaborative research projects across departments and institutions.
Assist in compiling an annual scholarship and research report for the Department of Medical Education.

Qualifications:
Required:
Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Education, Educational Measurement, Research Methodology, or a closely related field
Demonstrated expertise in assessment design, program evaluation, and continuous quality improvement methodologies
Experience working with accreditation standards and processes, preferably within medical education or a health professions education setting
Proficiency in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation
Proven ability to translate complex data and evaluation findings into clear, actionable recommendations for diverse academic audiences
Experience collaborating with faculty, academic leadership, and institutional stakeholders in a higher education environment
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assessment initiatives simultaneously
Ability to handle sensitive institutional and student data with discretion and in full compliance with applicable regulations, including FERPA
Preferred:
Experience with LCME and/or ACGME accreditation processes, including self-study preparation, data reporting, and site visit coordination
Familiarity with learning management systems and institutional data platforms (e.g., Canvas, Qualtrics, or equivalent)
Proficiency in data visualization and statistical software tools (e.g., SPSS, R, Tableau, or equivalent)
Experience developing or contributing to faculty development initiatives focused on assessment literacy and data-informed teaching practices
Knowledge of national medical education outcome benchmarks, including USMLE performance data and AAMC standardized reporting metrics
Demonstrated ability to lead or facilitate cross-functional teams and working groups in a collaborative academic environment
Experience presenting evaluation findings or scholarly work at regional or national conferences, or contributing to peer-reviewed publications in medical education or a related field
