Assignment Details

• Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse
• Shift: 12-hour Nights
• Schedule: 36 guaranteed hours per week
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks

Requirements

Requirements

• Active RN license
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown experience
• BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience with:
  • Cardiac monitoring
  • Titrating cardiac and seizure medication drips
  • Care of adult and geriatric patients
  • Critical thinking in a fast-paced acute care environment
• BSN not required

Unit & Patient Population

• 35-bed Progressive Care Unit
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4–5
• Common patient diagnoses include:
  • Cardiac conditions
  • Nephrology disorders
  • Stroke
  • Diabetes
  • Continuous EEG monitoring patients

Skills & Responsibilities

• Titrate medications including Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications
• Provide care for adult and geriatric patients
• Float to Medical-Surgical, ICU, or Rehabilitation units as needed
• Every other weekend rotation
• Every third holiday rotation
• Strong communication, teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential
