This position provides administrative support for the Office of Attorney General. It provides secretarial/clerical duties using legal terminology, procedures and documents which includes:

• obtaining and providing information by telephone and in person in a professionally and courteously;
• maintaining composure, professionalism, efficiency, and accuracy during periods of peak workload, frequent interruptions, and changing priorities;
• greeting office guests in person in a professional, courteous, and exceptional customer-service;
• adapting established procedures to meet operational needs;
• typing, proofing, and/or finalizing confidential and sensitive letters, memo, legal documents and legal forms;
• other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

• experience with secretarial and administrative support duties;
• dependable, friendly, approachable and positive attitude;
• ability to conduct themselves in a professional manner with the public and in an office environment;
• excellent telephone etiquette;
• independent work habits that keep them on track;
• ability to accomplish tasks without direct supervision.

Knowledge of:

• office practices and procedures;
• excellent spoken and written English grammar.

Skills to:

• use Microsoft Office products effectively;
• use office technology, computerized information systems, and standard office software used to support administrative operations;
• type at a minimum of 60 words per minute.

Ability to:

• work independently on assignments with accuracy;
• pass a background investigation.

This position is exempt from the Civil Service Act.

This position is eligible for Veterans' Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
