Skilled Laborer

This role focuses on supporting construction and precast concrete operations by performing a wide range of hands-on tasks, including concrete work, general labor, and assisting machine operators in a production environment. You will contribute to the safe and efficient completion of projects by handling materials, operating and assisting with machinery, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.

Responsibilities

• Perform construction labor tasks, including site preparation, material handling, and cleanup to support daily operations.
• Work with concrete, including mixing, pouring, placing, and finishing precast and poured concrete products.
• Handle heavy lifting of materials, tools, and products as needed throughout the shift.
• Assist machine operators in the production process by supplying materials, monitoring equipment, and following instructions to maintain smooth operations.
• Operate basic machinery and equipment in the structural plant under guidance and in accordance with safety procedures.
• Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for tasks such as cutting, measuring, fastening, and assembling.
• Support carpentry-related tasks, including basic formwork, measuring, and cutting materials using tape measures and appropriate tools.
• Perform general labor duties such as cleaning work areas, removing debris, and maintaining a safe and organized job site.
• Assist with landscaping-related tasks as required, including site grading, cleanup, and outdoor labor.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team, communicating clearly and following directions from supervisors and machine operators.
• Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.

Essential Skills

• Experience in construction labor, including tasks such as material handling, site cleanup, and general construction support.
• Hands-on experience working with concrete in a construction or production environment.
• Experience in general labor roles requiring physical work and heavy lifting.
• Basic carpentry skills, including working with hand tools, measuring with a tape measure, and performing simple construction tasks.
• Ability to safely use hand tools and power tools in a construction or plant setting.
• Capability to assist with machine operating tasks and support machine operators in a production process.
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and sustained manual labor throughout the workday.
• Willingness to work in a team environment and follow instructions in a structural plant or construction setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in landscaping or outdoor labor environments.
• Prior experience in a structural plant, precast concrete facility, or similar industrial setting.
• Interest in developing skills in heavy equipment operation and supervisory responsibilities over time.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and commitment to consistent attendance.
• Comfort working with a variety of construction tools, including both hand and power tools.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Ashland, VA.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
