Leave Specialist

Hourly Rate: 18.50 Works under the direction of the Total Rewards Officer in support for all employee leave of absence matters. Interprets leave programs and policies in accordance with applicable federal and state employment laws such as FMLA, ADA, USERRA, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, etc. Assists with all cases/claims to include general administration, comprehensive case management, and program compliance with FMLA and related employment laws. Provides guidance to management, employees, and HR Business Partners/Liaisons on all forms of leave of absence cases and disability requests. Assists with all aspects of leave and accommodations, including light duty assignments and temporary assignments. Provides extensive case management and administrative aspects of disability retirement and/or claims. Organizes all medical information and ensures that HIPAA and employee privacy guidelines are closely monitored and effectively executed. Tracks employee hours regarding leave and coordinates all aspects of employees return to work. Investigates all alleged fraudulent activity related to leave cases. Works closely with the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Service Center. Creates reporting metrics and analytics for all employee leave. Meets regularly with HR Business Partners Coordinator to review the status of submitted claims and develop strategies for resolution. Works closely with the Retirement Analysts to facilitate line‑of‑duty and ordinary disability cases. Assists in the creation and facilitation of leave administration training programs. Responsibilities Perform additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned. Assist with all cases and claims related to employee leave of absence matters. Ensure compliance with all applicable leave laws and policies. Provide guidance to management and employees on leave procedures and mandatory obligations. Track employee hours and coordinate return‑to‑work processes. Investigate alleged fraudulent activity in leave cases. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or closely related field. Three (3) years of experience in HR, Labor Relations, or Leave Administration. Two (2) years managing leave accommodation cases (e.g., FMLA, Disability). Knowledge of applicable federal and state employment laws and leave policies. Physical Demands Requires the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Requires ability to operate general office equipment, such as a computer and telephone.
