Project Six offers a safe, structured residential program for adolescents ages 12–21 who need intensive support for emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. Our relationship-based approach helps teens build coping skills, strengthen communication, and prepare for successful reintegration into home, school, and community life.

As a Program Nurse at Project Six, you will play a vital role in supporting the health, safety, and well-being of residents while collaborating closely with residential staff, therapists, educators, families, and multidisciplinary treatment teams.

The Program Nurse is responsible for ensuring safe and compliant medication administration, monitoring resident and student health needs, responding to illness and injury, maintaining required medical documentation, and serving as a healthcare resource for residents, families, and staff.

This role requires strong clinical judgment, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with individuals who may have developmental, behavioral, or mental health challenges.

Position Details

• Location: Van Nuys
• Part-Time: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 11:00 AM

Key Responsibilities

• Dispense prescription and non-prescription medications to students served by the Agency following all State, County, and Agency guidelines
• Collaborate closely with the program psychiatrist during weekly meetings to review medications, side effects, and effectiveness
• Coordinate telephone or virtual (Zoom) meetings with the psychiatrist to process new orders and works closely with pharmacies to procure the medications
• Work with families to get a medical assessment prior to placement assist families in navigating the process of transferring medical insurance coverage to Los Angeles County when necessary, helping ensure residents have access to appropriate healthcare services and benefits
• Assure the current status of all mandated documentation necessary for administration of medications at this site
• Dispense medications to students, quality assurance daily
  
• Treatment of student injury/illness, assuring appropriate documentation
• Punch in/out (including lunch) in a timely manner according to prescribed hours of employment
• Promote and maintain a safe work environment
• Maintain a neat and organized personal work area
• Know and follow all Agency emergency procedures for any real or simulated emergency
• Respond appropriately to all staff and parent inquires regarding nursing services

Qualifications

• Current Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license in good standing
• Certification and experience administering injectable medications
• Experience in dispensing medications and performing general nursing duties
• Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail
  
• Strong documentation and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with adolescents and young adults with developmental, behavioral, and mental health needs
• Must be accurate, expedient and possess the necessary communication and behavior management skills to work with our targeted student population, parents, and multidisciplinary staff
• Committed to providing compassionate, person-centered care that promotes the health, safety, and well-being of the individuals served

The salary range represents the low and high end of the salary someone in this role may earn as an employee of Help Group. Salaries will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to, professional and academic experience, certification, training, responsibilities of the position, and other business and organizational needs. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees. Salary decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each hire.
