ACT-Float | Advanced Care Technician CNA

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate Advanced Care Technician (ACT-Float) to support nursing staff by providing essential patient care and comfort. This role involves assisting patients across various age groups, including infants, emergency pediatric, and adult populations, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean environment adhering to unit safety and infection control standards.
• Deliver comfort measures and assist with patients' daily needs, including meal assistance.
• Record and report vital signs and observations such as temperature, pulse, weight, and fluid intake/output to supervisors.
• Clean and prepare medical equipment, reporting any issues promptly.
• Assist with patient transport as needed.
• Prepare formula in the NICU department when applicable.

Qualifications

• ACT: Preferred 3-6 months experience in an acute care setting.
• ACT-Float: Preferred 1 year of acute care experience.
• NICU Department: Required minimum 2 years CNA experience; pediatric experience highly preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency is required.
• Ability to read, speak, and follow instructions in English is essential.
• Familiarity with electronic charting is preferred.

Education

• Must hold one or more of the following upon hire:
  • Current Certified Nurse Assistant Certification
  • Licensed Vocational Nurse license
  • Military Corpsman
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals of nursing, including initial assessment and vital signs

Certification

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association Healthcare Provider required upon hire.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification required within 90 days for specific departments.
• Maintain a minimum of 10 continuing education hours annually related to work.

All candidates must successfully pass a physical exam, drug screening, and background check prior to employment.
