Commercial & Small Contract Surety Field Underwriter

We are currently partnering with a top-tier carrier seeking experienced Commercial & Small Contract Surety Underwriters in multiple locations (Michigan) to support field operations and maintain close relationships with agency partners. These are fully remote positions with field presence, offering the flexibility to work from home while being empowered to build strong, local relationships with agents in your territory. You’ll be supported by a collaborative team and an organization that minimizes red tape and bureaucracy. What You’ll Do: Develop and manage a profitable book of Commercial and Small Contract Surety business in the assigned territory Build and maintain strong relationships with independent agents and producers Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business, including analyzing credit reports, financials, work-in-process schedules, and contracts Collaborate with Sales, Claims, and other field reps to serve clients and contribute to a team-oriented culture Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, document decisions, and deliver excellent service with clear, effective communication Maintain current knowledge of market dynamics and provide insights to internal stakeholders What We're Looking For: A few years of experience in commercial surety and small contract surety underwriting A proactive, high-energy personality with a relationship-driven mindset Strong communication and decision-making skills Ability to thrive in a remote, autonomous work environment What You’ll Get: 100% remote work flexibility Direct access to leadership and decision-makers A respected brand with strong financials and market presence The opportunity to make an immediate impact in your region Interested?
