Communications Specialist

Location: Onsite – Atlanta, GA or Remote Contract duration: 3 month contract with potential to extend or convert to FTE Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Communications Specialist to develop, manage, and distribute communications supporting large-scale projects and organizational transformations. This role will create audience-specific communication and engagement strategies, translate complex technical and business topics into clear and engaging content, and manage communications deliverables from concept through execution. The ideal candidate is a strong writer and content creator with experience working in a fast-paced, complex organization and hands‑on experience with content management systems (CMS) such as SharePoint, Staffbase, or similar platforms. This person should be highly organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple deadlines, and skilled at working with senior leaders, project teams, and diverse stakeholders. Responsibilities Manage communications deliverables from initial concept through execution and delivery. Develop stakeholder-specific communication and engagement approaches. Coordinate across multiple project workstreams to identify impacted audiences and determine appropriate communication strategies. Translate complex technical and business information into clear, concise, audience-focused communications. Create, edit, proofread, and improve written communications and messaging. Create and publish engaging content through appropriate communication channels. Build and maintain strong relationships with leaders, project teams, and business stakeholders. Support the development and maintenance of communication and engagement metrics. Monitor feedback, metrics, and stakeholder insights to continuously improve communication strategies and content. Support activation of the Change Network through communications, resources, and engagement materials. Navigate ambiguity and adapt communication strategies as project requirements evolve. Provide input and support related to training needs. Manage multiple communication schedules, priorities, and deliverables simultaneously. Coordinate with internal and external partners and vendors. Manage vendors and support timely and accurate processing of invoices. Maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive or critical information and limit information sharing to appropriate stakeholders. Participate in other communications and project-related activities as assigned. Requirements Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or a related field required. 4–5+ years of professional experience as a writer, content creator, or communications professional. Experience working with a high-volume editorial calendar in a fast-paced environment. Experience developing and executing communications and engagement strategies for large-scale transformations or projects. Experience creating, managing, and publishing content through SharePoint, Staffbase, or a similar CMS platform. Experience working with senior stakeholders and tailoring communications for different audiences. Graphic design experience is a plus. Required Technical Skills Strong professional writing and editing skills. Content creation and curation. CMS experience, particularly SharePoint, Staffbase, or similar platforms. Microsoft Word Microsoft Excel Microsoft PowerPoint Microsoft Outlook Ability to manage editorial calendars and multiple communication deliverables. Understanding of communication metrics and stakeholder engagement.
