Salary: $148,000–$164,000 base + bonus A global professional services organization is making a multi-year investment to transform its Data & AI function and become truly data-driven. The firm is building a modern Azure Databricks lakehouse platform from the ground up, backed by strong executive sponsorship and enterprise-wide visibility. The environment prizes engineering discipline, reliability, and collaboration on a fast-growing team. The Senior Data Engineer is the hands-on builder of this new platform. There are no production pipelines yet, and you will write the first code, own pipelines end-to-end, and establish the engineering standards the team grows into. You'll design and build scalable ETL/ELT pipelines with Python, SQL, and Spark on Azure Databricks, migrate legacy data warehouses into the centralized lakehouse, and mentor junior engineers as an informal technical leader. This is a senior individual contributor role—highly technical, high autonomy, and no people management. What You'll Do Design, build, and operate ETL/ELT and streaming pipelines on Azure Databricks (Spark, PySpark, Delta Lake, ADLS Gen2) Build and optimize lakehouse architectures (Bronze/Silver/Gold), data models, and schemas for analytics and downstream products Own orchestration, monitoring, testing, and troubleshooting for the pipelines you build Help establish engineering standards for CI/CD, test automation, and alerting Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and technical best-practice coaching What You Need 6+ years of hands-on data engineering experience building production ETL/ELT pipelines Proven hands-on Databricks experience with clear ownership of delivered solutions (Azure Databricks strongly preferred) Strong Python and SQL skills (live technical interview will assess both) Apache Spark / PySpark experience Experience with data modeling, schema design, and performance tuning Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field Nice to Have CI/CD, Git workflows, and test automation (Azure DevOps or GitHub) Experience with streaming or CDC pipelines Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM) Experience building or migrating enterprise data platforms from the ground up #J-18808-Ljbffr 1872 Consulting
