Job Purpose: Lead and manage specialized, diverse facilities operations for the Stanford Redwood City Campus (SRWC). Acting as a key operational partner to the Facilities and Operations Director, this role is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of specialized building systems and the successful execution of facilities projects. This individual will serve as a technical expert, coordinating solutions and driving operational excellence across the campus physical environment.
Core Duties:
- Building Systems & Maintenance Management: Perform regular condition assessments of building equipment and systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety). Analyze results to identify needs, establish preventive maintenance plans, and manage the campus's long-term preservation strategy. Coordinate and integrate utility usage and optimization efforts.
- Project & Vendor Management: Lead and execute facilities projects, including renovations, space reconfigurations, and process improvements. Directly manage vendors and service contracts from bidding to completion, directing, inspecting, and approving work to ensure it meets Stanford's quality standards and project timelines.
- Strategic & Financial Oversight: Serve as the primary facilities point of contact and operational partner to SRWC Ops Leadership. Manage budgets for maintenance and renovations, track purchase orders, and handle property administration tasks, including asset inventory. Analyze data to recommend process modifications for increased productivity and cost reduction.
- Operational Liaison & Support: Act as the primary point of contact for facilities issues within assigned buildings. Initiate work requests, monitor them to completion, and coordinate logistics to minimize disruption to campus occupants. Provide excellent customer service and communication to all stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements:
Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and five years of related, demonstrated facilities management experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Five years of related experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Technical knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, and security.
- Strong project management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and deliver on project plans.
- Excellent analytical skills to track complex space, equipment, and financial data.
- Mature judgment and strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a broad range of people, from senior leadership to external vendors.
- Demonstrated experience in vendor management, services contracting, and budget oversight.
- Background knowledge of emergency preparedness plans and safe work practices.
- Proficiency with applications such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial Class C Driver's License.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently stand/walk, seated, performs desk-based computer tasks.
- Occasionally climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), twist/bend/stoop/squat, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, use a telephone, writing by hand, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class Driver's license and drive day or night.
Work Standards:
- When conducting university business, must comply with California Vehicle Code and Stanford University driving requirements.
The expected pay range for this position is $112,502 to $136,592 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of the salary or hourly wage the university reasonably expects to pay for a position upon hire. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs. At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
