Check us out at Apply today!The Controls Engineer will program and complete design work for mobile equipment that includes electrical device/component selection, development of control loop functional scripts, schematics, panel layouts and wiring diagrams, detailed BOM and Operator and User Manuals. The Controls Engineer will collaborate with other SpecSys engineers and manufacturing along with project managers to ensure the On Time - On Budget - Done Right - Done-Safely aspects of the project assigned.Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:Verify the design meets performance and configuration specificationsDevelop and update project timelines, including periodic reviewsDevelop system concepts to meet project functionPerform engineering calculations to verify compliance with design requirementsProvide technical data to the client, designers, and draftersDevelop electronic control systems to meet customer expectations and specificationsProvide programming for controls, including PLC's and HMI/GUI componentsProvide analysis to verify system function, such as FMEA, design verification and validationPrepare system operation documents for the customerPrepare and present project design review booklets to the customerPrepare system schematics for AC/DC electrical circuits in single- and/or three-phase environmentsCreate and validate harness designs and drawings to support system integration and manufacturingSpecify materials to be used in designSpecify and source purchase components to be usedProvide direction and support to mechanical engineering for system integrationGenerate and review Bill of Materials for completenessProvide instructions and support to electrical technicians for system buildsUpdate and track action items, including Engineering Change OrdersSupport development of other systems and components, hydraulics, powertrain, engine, pneumaticsJob Requirements/Standards:Knowledgeable with CodeSys (or C, C++, VBA) and other mobile equipment program languageExperience with SAE J1939 and CANopenCapable to work on CAD packagesPossess strong mechanical, controls and electronics aptitudeElectrical systems design experienceExperienced in automotive or mobile equipment electrical design or mobile equipment controlsExperienced in PLC programmingExperienced in mobile electrical and hybrid power systemsHydraulic system control experienceExperienced in system design and developmentAbility to interact at a professional level with Manufacturing Operations, Sales, Clients, and Quality is a vital aspect of this job functionAbility to work independently or as part of a team is essentialAll work will be consistent with internal or customer specified requirements, and includes the ability to understand and apply local, national, and international codes and to comply with such as deemed necessaryEducation/Experience (Education and experience are both important, with salary reflective of ability and experience.)Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology disciplines4+ years of controls and electrical experienceOR Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be acceptable.SpecSys Overview:SpecSys is a full-service provider that offers project management, engineering, and manufacturing for fast-track projects, systems, and products with a main focus on large mobile equipment - if it moves and it's big, we can do it!
