Job Overview:

Our client is seeking a Mission Systems Technical Writer to support documentation efforts for highly specialized airborne intelligence platforms. This individual will work alongside engineering teams, mission systems stakeholders, and other technical writers to develop and maintain technical publications supporting aircraft mission systems, maintenance activities, and operational procedures. The ideal candidate will have hands-on operational, maintenance, or flight experience supporting C-135 aircraft platforms and a strong understanding of Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) and Communications Intelligence (COMINT) mission systems. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with engineers and mission equipment to ensure technical documentation is accurate, effective, and mission-ready.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain:
• • Technical Maintenance Manuals
  • Flight Operations Manuals
  • Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs)
  • S1000D-compliant technical documentation
• Collaborate with engineering teams to gather, validate, and document system information
• Review and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, wire lists, hardware specifications, software requirements, ICDs, and test procedures
• Support mission system modernization and baseline upgrade efforts
• Work within laboratory and aircraft environments to validate documentation accuracy
• Update technical publications to reflect hardware, software, and configuration changes
• Ensure documentation meets military and aerospace industry standards

Required Qualifications:

• Active Secret Security Clearance
• Experience with SIGINT and COMINT systems
• Operational, maintenance, or flight experience supporting C-135 aircraft platforms
• Working knowledge of:
• • RC-135 Rivet Joint, Cobra Ball, Combat Sent, or similar mission systems
  • Mission system equipment operations and maintenance processes
• Experience authoring technical documentation, including:
• • IETMs
  • Technical Maintenance Manuals
  • Flight Operations Manuals
  • S1000D-compliant publications
