Job Description\n American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Reno, Nevada.Job Description & Requirements\n \n Specialty: Med Surg / Telemetry\n Discipline: RN\n Start Date: ASAP\n Duration: 13 weeks\n 36 hours per week\n Shift: 12 hours, nights\n Employment Type: Travel\n \n Assignment Overview\n \n Shift: Nights, 3x12hrs\n Hours: 36 hrs/wk\n Start Date: Aug 24, 2026\n Length: 13 weeks\n Openings: 1\n Description\n American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry night shift position requiring an active NV RN license and prior travel nursing experience.Details\n \n 38-bed telemetry unit staffed with RNs, CNAs, Critical Care Techs (CCTs), and Advanced Care Techs (ACTs)\n Patient ratios typically range from 1:4 to 1:6 based on acuity\n CCTs monitor ECG rhythms on all telemetry patients 24/7\n Ancillary support includes Rapid Response Team, phlebotomists, EKG technicians, and Respiratory Therapists\n Patient population includes CHF, alcohol withdrawal, NSTEMIs, sepsis, dysrhythmias, PNA, COPD, and post-procedure patients including pacemakers, ablations, and cath lab and OHS patients downgraded from ICU\n Administers non-titratable cardiac medication drips such as Cardizem, Lasix, and Nitro\n 3x12 night shift schedule with 36 weekly guaranteed hours\n No call requirements\n May float to ICU for telemetry/medical appropriate assignments, medical-surgical units, and Renown South Meadows\n Uses Epic for charting\n Requirements\n \n Active NV RN license required prior to start\n Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA only for BLS/ACLS)\n Minimum 2 years of telemetry experience required\n Must pass a telemetry competency exam including identifying and measuring rhythm strips\n Prior travel experience of at least one 13-week assignment required within the past year\n Additional Information\n \n Provides individualized nursing care across the full episode of care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients\n Coordinates care with other healthcare professionals as part of an interdisciplinary team\n May float to other units up to competency level based on organizational needs\n Required to pick up one additional shift every 4-week schedule period\n Minimum of 2 major holidays required to be worked\n Facility can call off shifts (full or partial) with 48 hours notice for low census without penalty\n Located at a Level 2 trauma center with 800 inpatient beds and 80 ER beds serving a 500-mile radius\n Epic EMR training provided during orientation or candidates may test out\n Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius of the facility; no local candidates accepted\n A 13-week break is required for returning travelers after completing a prior contract\n RTO must be submitted with application and will not be added to the end of the contract\n \n \n American Traveler Job ID #P-735159.
