Manufacturing Technician

Pay Range: $22.00hr - $25.00hr


Job Overview:


The candidate is responsible for assembling, modifying, and reworking printed circuit cards in a high-mix, low-volume lab environment to support prototype and small-batch builds. The successful candidate performs hand soldering of through-hole and surface-mount components, operating surface mount machines, coating, rework, and touch-up using standard assembly tools, equipment, and work instructions. The candidate verifies workmanship to applicable quality standards, documents build issues, and collaborates with engineering to resolve design or manufacturability concerns. The role involves maintaining an organized lab workspace, managing materials carefully, and supporting quick-turn development efforts with flexibility, accuracy, and attention to detail. Daily tasks include logging into the work station, clocking in, and completing tasks from the work queue such as SMT, rework, hand install through-hole soldering, and application of coatings.

Requirements:

• Soldering skills required: J-Standard and IPC 610 certifications required (the organization will provide certification training).
• The candidate may be required to perform a soldering sample test as part of the interview process.
• Ability to use small hand tools.
• Torque tool experience required.
• Experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT) work.
• Ability to work under a microscope.
• Production experience.
• Rework experience is a plus.
• J-STD, IPC 610, and IPC 620 certifications preferred.

Essential Functions:

• Completes circuit card assembly operations on various electronic products, while ensuring compliance with required performance specifications.
• Ability to work from both oral and written instructions, engineering drawings, and blueprints, supporting surface mount and thru-hole circuit cards and their applicable components.
• Documents assembly data and results, and provides documentation of failed products.
• Implementation of assembly methods, tooling, and aids required to achieve special design engineering requirements.
• Maintain professional standards of performance, demeanor, and judgment at all times as detailed in company policy and procedure.
• The candidate must be able to work under a microscope for long periods of time.
• Support overtime as needed to meet schedule requirements and business needs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and documentation skills to ensure efforts are properly recorded, in unison with customer and quality expectations.
• Obtain COMSEC training.
• IPC 610, J-STD, and Space addendum certifications required.

Qualifications:

• Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 4+ years of prior related experience, or a 2-year post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 0-2 years of prior related experience.
• Ability to obtain a security clearance as required.
• US Citizenship Required.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Knowledgeable with Microsoft suite and personal computing devices.
• Proficient in multiple electronics manufacturing processes, including soldering, hand tools, and ESD practices.
• Experience with surface mount technology.

Degree/Certification Requirements:


High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 0-3 years related experience. The successful candidate must be able to obtain J-Standard and IPC-610 certification once hired.
