Spanish Speaking Phlebotomist

Job Description

The primary function of a Phlebotomist II is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This role requires a proficient individual capable of conducting blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data, decontamination, and updating patient information.

Responsibilities

• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
• Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collection such as urine or fecal as required.
• Demonstrate techniques using straight and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders.
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels are 100% correct against scripts.
• Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples at required temperatures.
• Place samples in appropriate collection container/tube, accurately label, and follow protocols necessary for transport to maintain specimen integrity.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Essential Skills

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum of 6 months' experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• 2-4 years of experience in the field.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with pediatric, internal medicine, and Obgyn patients.
• Ability to work independently.
• Must be able to handle 25-35 patient draws daily.

Work Environment

The position is based in a doctor's office in New Jersey, with working hours from Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. The candidate will receive 2 weeks of training at the start of the role. The work environment requires handling pediatric patients and involves working independently. The dress code is professional attire, and the role does not require floating.

This is a Contract position based out of Elizabeth, NJ.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Elizabeth,NJ.
