Do you enjoy being part of a great team? Are you detailed oriented? Have a knack for numbers? Central Finance is looking for an Accountant I. Central Finance delivers financial expertise to 13 Divisions within the Department of Administrative Services (DAS). Our financial team provides Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) services as well as budgetary monitoring and financial analysis. We are seeking an Accountant I who will work with the financial team focusing on Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

Job duties include entering, analyzing, reviewing/pre-auditing and approving various expenditure payment types, journal entries, deposits and other AP and AR transactions as needed. Entering and validating data in various billing systems/databases. Generating, extracting, compiling, organizing, and analyzing financial data from vouchers, ledgers, journals and other accounting documents and databases to develop and prepare spreadsheets, reports, statements and other financial documents or files. Assisting members of the financial support team including the Budget Analysts. This position will communicate with vendors, agency personnel and other agencies to answer inquiries and clarify any matters that maybe in question. All other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.

Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework or vocational education in accounting, finance, business administration or related field OR experience performing accounting functions including interpreting and analyzing financial data.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Excel software. *Interview candidates will be given a 30-minute Excel test*

Other: Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to learn and apply the principles and concepts of specific agency programs and regulations and the procedures of an accounting system. Excellent communication skills with both internal and external customers and staff. Ability to work independently, multi-task and make independent decisions.
