Job Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)

Contract Length: Through April 30, 2027, with likely extension

Pay Range: $55–$65/hr W2, depending on experience

Position Overview

\n

Our Fortune 500 client in New York City is seeking an experienced Senior SQL Developer & Data Engineer to support enterprise data platforms, critical business applications, analytics, and digital transformation initiatives.

\n

This hands-on technical role combines advanced Microsoft SQL Server development, ETL/ELT data engineering, database architecture, and operational support. The ideal candidate will have strong T-SQL development expertise, experience building and optimizing enterprise data pipelines, and the ability to independently troubleshoot complex database performance and data quality issues.

\n

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Design, develop, optimize, and maintain complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, views, functions, and database objects.
\n
• Perform SQL Server performance tuning, execution plan analysis, indexing optimization, and query troubleshooting.
\n
• Design, build, and support enterprise ETL/ELT pipelines, data ingestion, transformation, and integration workflows.
\n
• Develop incremental loading, data validation, reconciliation, and data quality processes.
\n
• Support enterprise data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and business intelligence solutions.
\n
• Contribute to database architecture, schema design, scalability, security, and operational reliability.
\n
• Troubleshoot database performance issues, data pipeline failures, integration errors, and production incidents.
\n
• Assist with SQL Server monitoring, maintenance, backup verification, and administrative support as needed.
\n
• Develop technical test plans, validate database changes, and support application releases and production deployments.
\n
• Maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, scripts, and operational support runbooks.
\n
• Collaborate with developers, DBAs, data engineers, business analysts, and stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions.
\n
• Identify opportunities to improve database performance, automation, data integrity, and overall system efficiency.
\n

Required Qualifications

\n

\n
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
\n
• 5–8 years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server development experience.
\n
• 6+ years of software development and systems integration experience.
\n
• Advanced expertise in T-SQL , including complex queries, joins, stored procedures, views, functions, and query optimization.
\n
• Strong experience designing, developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting ETL/ELT pipelines and enterprise data integrations .
\n
• Experience with data ingestion, incremental loading, transformations, validation, reconciliation, and data quality processes.
\n
• Hands-on experience with enterprise data warehousing and dimensional data modeling.
\n
• Strong SQL Server performance tuning skills, including indexing strategies, execution plans, and query optimization.
\n
• Experience with database design, schema modifications, and troubleshooting database-driven applications.
\n
• Ability to independently investigate and resolve complex database, application, and data integration issues.
\n
• Experience supporting enterprise reporting and business intelligence solutions.
\n
• Strong technical documentation, testing, and production support experience.
\n
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
\n
• Ability to work onsite in New York City 3 days per week.
\n

Preferred Qualifications

\n

\n
• SQL Server database administration experience, including security, maintenance, backup and recovery.
\n
• PowerShell scripting and automation experience.
\n
• Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub, or similar version control and deployment platforms.
\n
• Experience supporting large-scale enterprise reporting and business intelligence environments.
\n
• Knowledge of database availability, reliability, and operational support practices.
\n
• Experience supporting production deployments, release management, and application integrations.
\n
• Previous experience in utilities, energy, infrastructure, or other operationally critical enterprise environments.
\n
